As a USPS technology leader, Jerry has been instrumental in driving the adoption of new architectures, technologies and processes for one of the country’s largest network and compute infrastructures. His current role is to identify, develop and instantiate new technology capabilities, as well as re-architect how data flows across the Postal Service’s physical and digital infrastructures.
As Executive Director of CIO Architecture and Strategy, Jerry oversees a team of over 60 architects and data scientists. He is responsible for defining the Information Technology (IT) Enterprise Architecture needed to meet rapidly evolving business requirements as USPS moves to modernize platforms comprised of 900+ applications with data management, microservice and event stream meshes and cloud-right architectures, mixing in Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI) development models as appropriate.
Jerry brings to his position more than 40 years of public and private sector IT experience across several disciplines including architecture, software engineering, systems administration and automation, and field engineering.
Major accomplishments include:
- Initial formation of the IT Architecture & Strategy team and piloting of key processes including application discovery and assessment, and technology capability building.
- Formation of the Linux platform at USPS, including being a primary contributor to key hosting standards, processes and automation. This included the build out of a world class UNIX / Linux support organization handling more than 10,000 Linux based servers and providing the infrastructure in support of big data and key Enterprise Analytic systems.
- Leadership in standardization on SOX and PCI compliance, major USPS system implementations, technology refresh planning, and software license management.
